Name: Brian Drapp
CrossFit since? May 2018
What class times do you attend? Usually 5:30AM with Dane…and sometimes 4:30PM with Craig.
How did you find CrossFit Condor? My friend Ryan Wolfgang encouraged me to give CrossFit Condor a try. He started at CrossFit Condor in Spring 2016. I had been wanting to get back in shape and lose some weight, but my own workout plan had not produced the desired results. So, after more than a year of hearing about CrossFit from Ryan, I took the chance.
First memorable CrossFit experience? Definitely my introductory class on the Saturday before Memorial Day 2018. I did a 3 round mini-WOD of wall balls, rowing, and pushups for ~15 mins. Totally exhausted after workout and took 30 mins to recover to get off the deck and stand up. Ryan told me the first 2-3 weeks would be tough, but it would get better after that and I would see significant improvements after 6 weeks. He was spot on! After 6 weeks, I was down about 10 pounds, stronger, and feeling much better!
What is your biggest challenge that you overcame? Being able to pace myself to finish a WOD. I had not done many of the weight lifting movements since playing college football in ’79-’81. However, biggest challenge I’m still trying to overcome is embracing Burpees!
What do you love most about CrossFit? The Results! Quality of life has significantly improved. Lost 25 lbs. in 7 months, 4 inches off waist, put on muscle, and have reduced my overall stress at work and at home.
Favorite movement or workout? Bike. I also like any WOD without Burpees!
What is your favorite thing to do on rest days (hobbies)? Snow skiing in the winter and golfing in the Summer.
CrossFit advice for new members? Give CrossFit a chance and don’t worry about how much you are lifting or how fast you are moving…but JUST KEEP MOVING and finish the WOD! Get to know your fellow CrossFit mates. These are interesting individuals from all walks of life with the shared goal of improving their fitness.
